Erasure
The world demands that you introduce yourself twice, first as you are, and second as you are told to be.

The first book I have read by Everett, recommended by a friend. Probably my favorite book of the year so far. I definitely missed the majority of the themes wrapped up in this book, but understood the general idea. After reading some analysis online, apparently it parallels Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison, which I have not read yet but have now added it to my list.
There’s a novel within this novel, which is fun, as the main character is a writer. It’s a dark comedy that may be a reflection on Everett’s own writing career.
